ELKHART — Richard E. DeMott, 69, of Haslet, Texas, formerly of Elkhart, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, Oct.29, 2013.

He was born to Harold and Emma DeMott in Long Island, N.Y.

He married Carol (Iannacone) March 16, 1965, in Long Island.

She survives along with one brother, Kenneth (Patty) DeMott of California; two daughters, Debra (Mark) Cloud of Cassopolis, Mich., and Doreen (Eric) Escovedo of Haslet; six grandchildren, John (Keri) Mulcahey, Christopher Mulcahey, Matthew Mulcahey, Nick Sedloc, Cameron Sedloc and Mike Cloud; and four great-grandchildren.

Passing before him was his mother and father.

Richard lived in Elkhart for many years before moving to Haslet in July. He worked for Skyline and Starcraft in Topeka before retiring as director of engineering in 2009.

Richard never met anyone that was not a friend. He had a personality everyone loved. His hobby that he is most remembered for was his passion for building model airplanes. He also loved his Harley rides.

Per Richard’s request cremation will take place following a private family gathering, as Richard’s request was not to mourn his passing — for he knew God very well — but to party and celebrate his going home to be with God.
