ELKHART — Beverly Jean Baer, 82, of Elkhart, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Doctors Neuromedical Hospital in Bremen.
She was born May 30, 1931, in Elkhart to Henry C. and Clare A. (Cook) Zook.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennie Marie (Nick) Canen and Debra Ann Hobbs, both of Elkhart; four sons, Orval Lee (Sandra) Ellsworth and Terry Lee (Cassie) Ellsworth, both of Elkhart, Gary Allen (Linda) Ellsworth of Merriville, Tenn., and Andy Thane (Choi) Ellsworth of El Paso, Texas; 23 grandchildren; more than 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Rose (Dean) Cavinder of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Sandra (Tom) Karmolinski of Elkhart; two brothers, Henry (Barbara) Zook of Wolcottville and Raymond (Carol) Zook of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clare Zook; one son, Lucky Lee Ellsworth; one daughter, Pamela Jean Freet, her husband, Orval Lee Ellsworth Sr.; two granddaughters, Holly Kaye Flores and Maggie Ellsworth; one grandson, Dennis Lee Ellsworth; a son-in-law, James H. Hobbs; and five sisters, Edna Eberhart, Alice Gaerte, Barbara Friend, Bette McNeal and Henrietta Grocke.
Beverly worked her younger years at trailer factories, where she was given the name “Hurricane Bev.” In her later years she worked at Kohl’s and Rax Roast Beef. Beverly loved doing embroidery, reading, playing bingo and camping.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, service at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Rob Berghorst from Willowdale Church of Christ will preside. Cremation will be at Elkhart Cremation Services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family defray funeral expenses.
