ELKHART — It is with heavy hearts that we must inform all of his friends that Bruce “Charlie” “Uncle Beezy” Brown, 70, passed away of health complications at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.

Charlie leaves behind his partner of 18 years, Larry Pearson. Besides leaving behind Larry, Charlie leaves his brother, Larry Brown of Elkhart; his sister, Jan Defoe of Indianapolis; plus numerous nephews and nieces.

Charlie was born in Elkhart on March 3, 1943. His parents were George and Fern Brown of Elkhart.

He attended Elkhart High School and completed four years of college. After four years in the U.S. Navy as a radio-man, Charlie moved to New York City to begin his bartending career; he spent 24 years as a bartender to the stars in the Four Seasons Hotel chain. As a child Charlie won the National Soap Box Derby for best car. Charlie enjoyed his pets, gardening and quilting — all the while working for the Paramount Theater in Seattle, where he was employee of the year several years in a row. Charlie touched many people with his dazzling smile and his quick wit. Charlie was and is loved by many and will be missed.

There will be no local services.

Memorial contributions in Charlie’s memory may be sent to Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, 425 Pontius Ave., N., Ste. 300 Seattle, WA 98109.
