ELKHART — Margaret E. “Maggie” Longfellow, 42, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully after an extended illness Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at 8:50 a.m. at Elkhart Hospice House.

She was born in Mishawaka on June 3, 1971, to Darell and Sandra (Borosh) Scheuring of Elkhart.

On May 27, 1995, she married Patrick “Pat” Longfellow in Elkhart. He survives at home.

Also surviving are her son, Eric Longfellow, and her sister, Teresa Scheuring, both of Elkhart; in-laws Arnold and Dana Longfellow of Goshen and Brian Longfellow and Mary Longfellow Freshour, both of Elkhart; and a host of aunts and uncles including David Longfellow of Bristol.

Her grandparents, Tony and Elsie Scheuring and John Borosh, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Maggie’s life will be at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol St., Elkhart, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. Pastor James Fookes will officiate. In accordance with the family’s wishes, Maggie’s body is to be cremated following the services and returned to her family.

Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.

Maggie was a receptionist and nurses aide at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart for several years. She enjoyed fishing and camping and crocheting blankets and hats for fellow cancer patients. She was also a prolific cookie baker and enjoyed making plates of cookies to give out during the holidays. She will be best remembered for her happy disposition and her love for her family and friends.

Memorial donations may be given to the family in care of her husband, Pat.
