GOBLES, Mich. — Carl “Rocky” Jones, 61, of Elkhart, Ind., born May 10, 1952, a U.S. Marine Vietnam veteran who retired in May of 2012 after 40 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad — formerly Conrail and Penn Central — died Sept. 10, 2013, at his lake home in Gobles after a brief illness.

He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Jones (grandchildren Haylee and Brayden) of Elkhart; a son, Tyler Jones of Elkhart; his mother, Jacquline Jones of Lake Wales, Fla.; sisters Carol Bly of Las Vegas and Cheri Swann (Leonard) of Decherd, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert I. Jones, formerly of Elkhart; a brother, Clifford Jones, formerly of Elkhart; and a nephew, Troy Swann, formerly of Elkhart.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at VFW Post 4054, 53550 M40 S. Highway, Marcellus.
