ELKHART — Betty J. Yoder, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Woodland Manor.
She was born June 21, 1930, in Temperance, Mich., to Hiram and Beulah (Myers) Meredith.
On Dec. 26, 1953, in Angola she married Abraham Yoder. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2005, in Elkhart.
Surviving are a son, Steven R. Yoder and a daughter, Sharyn Abby, both of Elkhart; a step-son, Richard (Pat) Yoder of Centreville, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Brandy Yoder, Jenny Yoder, Candi Miller, Robert Smoot and Michael Abby. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita (Tom) Sosbe; and a brother, Danny Meredith.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Meredith.
Betty was a life member of Elkhart DAV Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Elkhart County Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to country music and going to the Osceola Bluegrass Festival. Betty retired from Whitehall Labs, where she worked for 47 years.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, service, all at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Ritchie of Elkhart County Community Baptist Church will preside. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
