GOSHEN — Ruth Jane Hoover, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Shirley Riggs.

She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Elkhart County to Dallas and Amanda (Hostetler) Cripe.

On June 6, 1949, she married Jay Carlyle Hoover. He died in 1977.

She is survived by three daughters, Patty Lyons of Indianapolis, Cynthia S. (Ray) Good of Elkhart and Shirley A. (Charles) Riggs of Goshen; two sons, Carlos E.(Charlene) Hoover of Warsaw and Rex Delos (Linda) Hoover of Sturgis, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Peggy M. Brewer of Texarkana, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maude Niece of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Edward Oakes, Larry and Jack Heubner; and 11 sisters and brothers.

A homemaker, Ruth had been a member of Goshen Eagles and Goshen DAV, Goshen.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the noon service Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor David Cripe of New Hope Free Will Baptist will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
