SOUTH BEND — Herndon “Mac” McDonald, 78, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Hospice House-Center for Hospice.

He was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Knightstown, the son of the late Willard and Della (Bowen) McDonald.

Mac was in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a truck driver delivering RVs and mobile homes throughout the U.S. for more than 40 years. He also had worked for Skyline Trucking Company, Morgan Drive Away and Bennett Mobile Home and RV Delivery. He also worked at Four Winds Casino on the clean-up crew.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mayme M. (Thompson) McDonald; children Lulu G. Ringo of South Bend, Della J. McDonald of South Bend, Melanie B. Miller of Goshen and Ralph H. McDonald of Bay City, Mich.; and a sister, Marcellia Walgamuth of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.
