SOUTH BEND — Rosalie J. Miller, 97, formerly of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 14, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare.
She was born June 21, 1916, in St. Louis to John and Ann (Ptacek) Svoboda.
She married Julian P. Miller on June 22, 1940, in St. Louis. He died July 27, 2001.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Boehm of South Bend; a son, James E. Miller of Yellow Springs, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Julian “Jay” Miller; and three sisters, Marie Lampe, Audrey Peak and Margaret Riebold.
She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
A former member of Maplecrest County Club, she was an avid bridge player at Maplecrest and later at Tanglewood, following her move to Mishawaka. She took great joy from and was a big part of the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. rosary at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, funeral Mass will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Fernando Jimenez officiating. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
