ELKHART — Robert W. Tice, 89, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Elkhart to Orson and Lelia (Milliman) Tice.

He married Phyllis Leatherman in 1944. She preceded him in death in 1995.

He married Doris Wright in 1975. She preceded him in death in 1992.

Surviving are two sons, Steven Tice of Bristol and Timothy Tice of Bremen; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Carol) Tice of Elkhart; and his fiancée, Ruth Pike of Elkhart.

Bob was preceded in death by a son, Richard Tice; one sister, Betty Stouder; and two brothers, Dale and Darrel.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He graduated in 1941 from Elkhart High School. Bob was a member of the First Brethren Church and attended Hillcrest United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Elkhart Kiwanis Club, a member of Elkhart Moose Lodge and belonged to Boy Scouts of America for 35 years. He founded the Elkhart Toastmasters Club and he reinstated the Goshen Toastmasters Club.

Bob was an avid bowler and golfer who made five holes-in-one.

Bob retired as a supervisor from Conrail after 43 years of service.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Fookes from Hillcrest United Methodist Church will preside. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
