He was born July 17, 1920, to Ethel M. (Coryell) and Forest R. Cowen in Mishawaka. He married Wanda L. Housand in Mishawaka on Feb. 24, 1940. They were married for 70 years before her death in June 2010.

Kenneth was retired from Bendix as a machine operator in 1975 after 36 years of service. He served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Judith and brother Wayne Cowen.
