ELKHART — Homer O. Fuqua, 82, of Elkhart, died Saturday, July 6, 2013.

The Macon County, Ill., native was born Nov. 13, 1931, to Archibald and Cora (Knapp) Fuqua.

Homer was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war. He enjoyed woodworking and was devoted to his family and his church life. Homer was a retired Salvation Army officer.

In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fuqua of Elkhart; daughter Cindy (Barry) Corbitt of Louisville; sons Bruce (Dawn) Fuqua of South Bend and Ben Fuqua of Fort Branch; stepdaughters Kathy Bragg of Elkhart and Tammy (Gary) Young of Grand Rapids, Mich.; stepson Ron (Kolleen) Lenon of Mears, Mich.; grandchildren Kerwyn, Christian and Gabriel Corbitt, Dylan, Lauren and Marley Fuqua, Tina and Dan Schott and Jagger and Jesse Lenon; and brothers Herb (Marge) Fuqua of Detroit and Paul (Vi) Fuqua of Clearwater, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 900 W. Western Ave., South Bend. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the center. Graveside committal services will be at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, Ill.

The family’s preferred memorial is the Salvation Army of Elkhart, 300 N. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46516.
