Jamie L. Hooker

ELKHART — Jamie Lynn Hooker, 28, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at her home.
She was born April 16, 1985, in Elkhart to Ricky A. and Connie L. (Howard) Hooker.
Surviving are her mother, Connie L. Love; her father and stepmother, Ricky A. and Jodi Hooker; and three brothers, Ricky Hooker, Desmond Hunter and Jacob Hooker, all of Elkhart. Also surviving are a sister, Desiree Hunter of Pineville, La.; grandparents Patricia and Arthur Krop of Elkhart; a stepgrandmother, Mary Jane Howard of Elkhart; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, James C. Hooker in 1989; a grandmother, Mary A. Rucker in 1995; a grandfather, Lawrence F. Rucker Sr. in 2008; and a grandfather, Robert E. Howard in 2003. Her boyfriend, Mitchell Rider, her two Macaws, Sierra and Roscoe, and her two dogs, Barbie and Meeka, passed away with her.
Jamie was formerly employed at G.W. Exotics in Oklahoma and was self-employed. She was an avid animal lover who did animal training and consulting. She also had her own bird toy business.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Chas Brothers, a chaplain with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, will preside and cremation will follow the service. A private family entombment will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
