Doris M. Menges

June 14, 1929 - June 20, 2013

LAGRANGE — Doris M. Menges, 84, of LaGrange, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor in LaGrange.

She was born June 14, 1929, in DeKalb County, to Albert and Olive Beatrice (Wilson) Weicht.

Doris moved to LaGrange from Auburn in 1959. She retired as a bookkeeper at Lakeland High School. She worked there from 1959 to 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. She was involved in the UMW of the church and volunteered at LaGrange County Food and Clothes Basket until 2006 and also at the Red Bird Mission.

She married William J. Menges Aug. 17, 1947, in DeKalb County. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2003.

Surviving her is a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Richard Fremion of Wolcottville; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Menges of Goshen; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Kummer of Waterloo; a stepsister, Delores Johnson Feller, and stepbrothers, Verl and Ellen Johnson of Fort Wayne and Leonard Johnson of Waterloo.

Her parents, stepmother Goldie (Nodine Johnson) Weicht, sister Carolyn Trubey and brother Richard Weicht preceded Doris in death.

Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 209 West Spring St., LaGrange. The Rev. Chris Danielson and the Rev. Denise Heller will officiate. Burial will take place in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pleasant Lake.

Memorials may be contributed to First United Methodist Church or LaGrange County Food and Clothes Basket.
