BRISTOL — John Edward Bobilya, 71, of Bristol, died at 11:54 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence.
He was born March 19, 1942, in Fort Wayne to Edward and Dorothy (Armstrong) Bobilya. He and Kathleen (Helenbolt) Bobilya had been together for 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen; faithful companions Sissie and Lucky; children David Bobilya of Ocala, Fla., Danny (Trina) Bobilya of Montpelier, Ohio, Robert (Renee) McClure of Elkhart, Ray (Toni) McClure of Elkhart and Tammy (Chuck) King of Elkhart; sisters Judy (Bill) Daniels of Fort Wayne, Barbara Theisen of Fort Wayne; brother Lewis Bobilya of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and the mother of his two sons, Barbara Bolen of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John retired from International Harvester, Fort Wayne, in 1983. In 2013, he was owner/operator of First Choice of Elkhart, Mottville, Mich. He loved shooting and belonged to many gun clubs in northern Indiana, including the NRA. He loved prospecting for gold in California and spending time at home with his family. His pride and joy were his dogs, Sissie and Lucky.
The family requests to meet at noon Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Fuenral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, to go in procession to Violett Cemetery for a graveside service. John’s son, Deacon Dan Bobilya of Montpelier Church of Christ, will officiate. There will be a dinner following the service at Baugo Fire Department, 57955 C.R. 3, Elkhart.
