KIMMELL — William Truex, 79, of Kimmell and formerly of Elkhart, Wakarusa and Nappanee, died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, in his residence.
He was born in St. Joseph County to Melvin R. and Alice (Housour) Truex.
He married Marilyn J. (Stickel) Truex on Oct. 5, 1957.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn of Kimmell; son Michael A. Truex of Nappanee; daughters Diane (Dennis) Blotkamp of Kimmell and Kathy Winright of Wakarusa; grandchildren Justin W. Blotkamp, Cody W. Blotkamp, Adam W. Brew and Austin W. Winright; great-grandchildren, Wyatt A.J. Blotkamp and Lilly E. Stout; sister Doris Runyon of New Paris; and brother Douglas (Audrey) Truex of Nappanee.
Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Lois Miller.
William was a 1951 graduate of Wakarusa High School and a graduate of a four year tool and die trade school. He was a tool and die maker at NIBCO for 17 years, a dairy farmer for 21 years and a grain farmer, which he was doing before he died. He was a member and deacon of Broadway Christian Chapel, Kimmell. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was discharged in 1956. He loved the outdoors, fishing, mushroom hunting, grouse hunting and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially of the Cubs, Bulls, and Notre Dame. Through the years he enjoyed his dog companions.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, and for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Monday, April 29, 2013, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
