Max D. Slabaugh

GOSHEN — Max Devon Slabaugh, 76, died Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 28, 1936, south of Nappanee to Willard and Marjorie (Young) Slabaugh.
He married Loretta M. Weyrick in 1956. She died in 2004. He then married Shirley (Losee) Flowers in 2005.
She survives along with three children, Julie (Tom) Schiefer of Nappanee, Jill (David) Stone of Sarasota, Fla., and Daniel (Claudia) Slabaugh of Columbus; stepchildren, Mindy (Phil) Lechlitner of Wakarusa and Monte (Charlene) Flowers of Nappanee; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; and a brother, Wayne.
Max graduated from Nappanee High School.
He taught in the Goshen Community Schools and served as interim pastor at First Brethren Church, New Paris.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, funeral service will be at First Brethren Church, Nappanee.
The family requests visitors wear something red to the services.
