GOSHEN — Michael “Mike” Taylor, 63, of Elkhart and formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Goshen General Hospital.
Mike was born on Feb. 18, 1950, in Mishawaka as the son of John and Mary (Zavor) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Taylor; and a sister, Shirley De Wulf.
Michael is survived by his children, Jessica (Larry) Shaw, Shirley (Todd) Mauer, Stevie Jo (Ron) Garberick and Benjamin Taylor, all of Elkhart; and his cherished grandchildren, Sara, Lauren, Alex, Ashley Jo, Nicolette and Bailey. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim J. Taylor and Clarence Taylor, both of Mishawaka; a sister-in-law, Janice Taylor of Mishawaka; and his beloved dog, Roscoe.
Mike was employed by Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka for 17 years. After leaving Dodge he went to work for LaBour Pump for 10 years before retiring.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving for three years from 1968-71. His first love and biggest priority in life was his family; he took pride in the faith and values and the time he shared with them.
Mike was a lover of antiques and photography. He was also a big fan of IU basketball and the Chicago White Sox.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth St., Mishawaka. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Vale officiating.
