MINOR HILL, Tenn. — Alfred Geza Hoffer, 82, of Minor Hill and formerly of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Cape Coral, Fla., passed away at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Pulaski.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1931, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Geza and Mary Rose (Nykos) Hoffer.

Mr. Hoffer married Elizabeth Molnar in 1950. They divorced in 1973, neither remarried. They remained good friends until her death in 2009.

Mr. Hoffer is survived by one son, Dennis Hoffer of Elkhart, Ind.: four daughters, Lisa (Terry) Lane of Minor Hill, Michele (Mike) Gordon of Edwardsburg, Mary Beth Hoffer of Elkhart and Claire Kunigonis of New Bern, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Schuyler, Tiese, Michael, Maggie, McKimmy, Meghan-Margret, Adam, Zachary, Kelsey and Korynn; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard E. Hoffer of Osceola, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, John Hoffer; a granddaughter, Kelley; and a great-granddaughter, Madeline.

Mr. Hoffer worked in the accounting departments for Hart Metal, Consolidated Metal and at French Paper Co. He was a member of the VFW in Edwardsburg and Eagles Lodge. Throughout his life he enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and playing the organ and saxophone. He was known for being an outstanding bartender and made his own wine. He loved classic cars, sailing ships, airplanes, and his English bulldogs and chihuahuas.

There will be no visitation.

Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Burial and memorial service will take place at a later date in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, North Liberty, Ind.

Contributions in memory of Alfred G. Hoffer may be offered to St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Liberty.
