F. Wayne Lawson, 86

GOSHEN — The Rev. F. Wayne Lawson, 86, died Wednesday evening, March 20, at North Woods Village, Kokomo, where he had recently moved.
He was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Peru to Lamoin and Ruth (Gehman) Lawson.
On June 2, 1951 he married Alene Statler. She died May 1, 1990.
Mr. Lawson is survived by three daughters, Ginny (Steve) Haney of Mt. Morris, Ill., Karen (Tracy) Bricker of Kokomo and Janet (Roger) Winder of Oldsmar, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ryan Haney of Goshen, Andrea (John) Kruse of Elkhart, Alison (Eric) Witmer of Indianapolis, Annette and Lisa Bricker, both of Kokomo, and Brianna Winder of Oldsmar; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Boettjer and a brother, Ross Lawson.
A graduate of Peru High School, 1945; Manchester College, 1949; and Bethany Seminary, 1952, he spent his life pastoring in the Church of the Brethren (COB). He served as minister at Bethany COB, New Paris; Andrews COB, Huntington; Markle COB, Markle; Union City COB, Ohio; Monticello COB, Monticello; and as pastor of visitation at Goshen City Church of the Brethren until 2011.
He was a volunteer Red Coat for many years at Goshen General Hospital. He was also a member of Goshen Sunrisers and Milford Kiwanis clubs, serving as president for the Milford club.
Pastor Wayne will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind and gentle man.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, funeral service at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Pastor Bev Weaver and his daughter, Pastor Ginny Haney, will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
