MISHAWAKA — Bobby Dean Basham, 75, of Mishawaka, went home to his Lord, at 11:29 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Memorial Hospital South Bend.

He was born Nov. 22, 1937, to John and Louella (DeVore) Basham, who both preceded him in death, along with four brothers, James, William, Russell and John.

On June 14, 1969, he married Karen Snyder in South Bend.

She survives with his four daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Dodge and Tammie (Ed) Hibshman, both of Elkhart, Kimberly (Scott) Haller of Sturgis, Mich., and Sandra (Robert) Hubbard of Evington, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Jeff, Michael and Kelly Pratt, Ryan, Adam and Nicholas Hibshman, Ryne, Kayla, Jessica and Jacob Haller and Aiden and Alex Hubbard; one great-grandson, Giovanni Pratt; five sisters, Lucille Copp, Margery Boehnlein, Evelyn Kline and Ruth Frick, all of Mishawaka, and Norma Nowack of Lewisberry, Pa.; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Basham of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Sharon Basham of Edwardsburg, Mich.

He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1956 and was a guitar player for the popular “Rythmaires” Band. Mr. Basham was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a sales consultant for John Hancock Life Insurance Company and the owner/operator of Charcoal Grill Concessions and Catering. As a member of First Baptist Church, he served as a Sunday school teacher, Awana commander and the director of the Helping Hands Mission Team. He enjoyed his family and cooking was his passion. He was famous for his ham and bean soup and Cincinnati chili. He liked watching Notre Dame football and was a handyman who could fix anything.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main St., Mishawaka, and also one hour prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, with Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will follow the services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
