ELKHART — Richard F. Yoder, 87, of Elkhart, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Elkhart.

He was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Niles, Mich., to Franklin and LaVelle (Baker) Yoder. In 1947, he married Kathryne Elizabeth Williams. She died in 1978.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy (Ron) Gingerich of Wolcottville; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Vyvyan Larimer.

Richard was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1946. He had served as a medic in Italy. He had been a cookie salesman for 30 years for Salerno Cookie Co., Elkhart, and was an animal lover.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Drew Ryall. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
