Middlebury — Gene E. Stout, 79, of Middlebury, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Elkhart Hospice House.

He was born Sept. 25, 1933, to the late Carroll and Lucille (Forsythe) Stout.

On Nov. 20, 1955, he married Dorothy Hocking. She died May 18, 2006.

His children, Dianne (Lynn) Kliewer of Bristol, Deneen Stout of Fishers, Dolores (Dick) Schoen, Dee (Jimmy) Koontz, Donald Stout and David (Laura) Stout, all of Middlebury, Darla (Ken) Bechlem of Topeka, Dale Stout of Goshen, Duane (Jennifer) Stout of Kenosha, Wis., and Dean (Rhonda) Stout of Elkhart; and sister Donna Stout of Goshen survive.

His daughter, Debra Stout, and son, Dennis Stout, preceded him.

Gene worked at Coachman Industries for more than 30 years where he served as Executive Vice President. He was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, funeral service at First United Methodist Church, Middlebury. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery.
