GOSHEN — Elson “Bud” Abbott, 82, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, 2013, at Eastlake Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart.
He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Reading, Mich., to Benjamin F. and Gladys (Childs) Abbott.
On Oct. 18, 1954, he married Emojean Felker in Arlington, Va. After he served two years with the U.S. Marines, they moved to the Goshen area in 1981.
Bud is survived by his wife; children Carin Jones and Brett Abbott, both of Goshen; three sisters, Irene Baker of Montpelier, Ohio, Arlene Markle of Mesa, Ariz., and Valeda Myers of St. Angelo, Texas; and a brother, Kenneth (Alice) Abbott of Galesburg, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Baker; and a brother, Floyd Abbott.
He worked in the printing industry as a lithographer, most recently with Barger Packaging, Elkhart. Bud raised quarter-horses and enjoyed any activity outdoors. You could count on him to be “tinkering” on all different kinds of projects.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will be a 12:30 p.m. Saturday. March 2, 2013, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Tyler of Grace Point Church, Nappanee, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
