LAGRANGE — Alice D. Rasler, 86, of LaGrange, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.

She had lived in the area since 1954. She was a homemaker.

She was born May 12, 1926, in Peterstown, W.Va., to James M. and Matilda C. (Willis) Wilson. On Dec. 19, 1946, she married C. Eugene Rasler Sr. in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2004.

Alice loved her outdoor flowerbeds and gardening. She was well known in the community for planting thousands of canna bulbs. She enjoyed collecting teapots, loved to read and made braided rugs from old clothing.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara (the Rev. Dr. M. Dayle) Dickey of Chambersburg, Pa., and Julie A. Rasler and Mary (Kenneth) Kilgore, both of LaGrange; three sons, Greg (Sandie) Rasler and Danny T. Rasler, both of LaGrange, and David (Carrie) Rasler of Nappanee; former daughter-in-law Joan Rasler of LaGrange; 14 grandchildren, Andrew Dickey, Elizabeth (Neil) Heisey, Peter (Nicole) Dickey, Jesse, Casey and Isaac Kilgore, Kristyn Steele, C. Shane (Stacie) Rasler, Shawn (Tasha) Rasler, Scott (Racheal) Rasler, Kim (Joel) Goss, Kole (Jessica) Rasler and Justin and Tyler Rasler; 16 great-grandchildren, Logan and Abigail Heisey, Lucas Dickey, Brennen and Zachary Weimer, Conner Steele, Alivia and Alayna Rasler, Jason McBride, Rylee Rasler, Isabella, Clara, Anna and Ezekiel Rasler and Emmajen and Evelynn Goss; and two sisters, Sara McCollam of Beckley, W.Va., and Ann Mitchell of Roanoke, Va. She also had a dear friend and caregiver, Barb Foote.

Her parents, a husband, son C. Eugene Rasler Jr., granddaughter Amy Rasler, six sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, LaGrange, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. The Rev. Rustin Krapfl will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Bethel Cemetery, rural LaGrange.

Memorials may be contributed to the LaGrange County Library.
