GOSHEN — Rennie Jon Yoder, 56, died Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1956, in Goshen to Isander and Marlys (Nettleton) Rodriguez. At a young age he was adopted by his father, Floyd J. Yoder. On Aug. 1, 1982, he married Teri M. (Harrington) Rhoades.
She survives along with his mother, Marlys Yoder; two daughters, Lisa M. (William Crandall) Rhoades of Butler and Annette Gonzales of Goshen; a granddaughter, Deena M. (T.J.) Stafford; three grandsons, D.J. (Latisha) Rhoades, Tony Gonzales II and Christian Gonzales; great-grandchildren Michael, Sarah and Joshua; two sisters, Lisa J. (Randy Crussemeyer) Yoder of Elkhart and Lori A. Yoder of Goshen; a niece, Savannah Crussemeyer; and a nephew, Tory Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his birth father; adopted father; and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Rhoades.
Rennie lived in Goshen all of his life. He worked as a mechanic, welder and truck driver until becoming disabled in 1996.
He liked to hunt, fish, play cards, golf, camp, swim, ski and was an avid NASCAR and Chicago White Sox fan.
He received the Moose of the Year award in 2002 when he was a member of Goshen Lodge 836. He broke the Jefferson High School shot put record when he was in the sixth grade. He later attended Middlebury Community Schools and received his GED in 1995.
His body will be cremated at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen. A private family service will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of Elkhart County in honor of his beloved dog, Max, who survives him.
