ELKHART — Marjorie S. Shepard, 92, of Elkhart, died in her sleep at home Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.
Marjorie was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Linton to John H. and Dona (Griffith) Suttle. On June 28, 1942, in Terre Haute, she married Merrick W. Shepard. He died April 2, 1985.
Surviving are three sons, Merrick H. (Leslie Tate) Shepard of Laguna Hills, Calif., Drake W. (Lynn) Shepard of Rome, Ga., and Tracy J. Shepard of Mishawaka; and four step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stephanie Shepard; and three brothers, Woodrow Suttle, Charles Suttle and Howard Suttle.
Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tri Kappa, having served as past secretary, and was a charter member of Elcona Country Club, Elks Club and Four Arts. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf and was an avid tennis player. She loved her cat Abby and cared about the “critters” and “birdies” outside.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Elkhart. Pastor Walter Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.
