GOSHEN — Barbara M. Curlett, 60, of Goshen, died Monday, Jan. 14, at home.
She was born June 17, 1952, in Philadelphia to the late John Robert and Jane Catherine (Meehan) Curlett.
Surviving are her sister, Peggie Duffy, and nephews Matthew LaTour and Ryan Duffy, all of Norwood, Pa.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, John and Mark Curlett.
She lost both of her parents by the age of 22, but managed to graduate from Eastern College with a bachelor’s degree in social work.
She worked a number of years for the Philadelphia mental health system, but by age 35 found herself on the streets of Philadelphia, addicted to various substances.
Eventually, she entered rehabilitation, moved to Goshen and worked as a social worker, though she occasionally struggled with addictions. She entered The Spa, an rehabilitation program for women, where she underwent a profound transformation.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Elijah’s Fire International Church, 607 Middleton Road, Elkhart.
Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Spa, c/o the church.
