GREENVILLE, Mich. — Darda P. “Dar” Troyer, 83, of Greenville passed away into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Miles and Mary (Reiff) Troyer.
He owned and operated the renowned Hi Delite restaurant for 35 years, where he loved to share the joke of the day. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, who was his savior, and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church for 34 years, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Melba (Mumaw) Troyer; daughter Bonnie (Phillip) Symonds of Greenville; son the Rev. Jerry (Mary Jo) Troyer of Central Lake; daughter-in-law Elaine Troyer of Australia; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Fern Erb of Virginia, Vera (Jim) Weaver of Goshen, Ind., Margaret (Vernon) Miller of Ohio, Becky (John) Bixler of Iowa and Grace Helmuth of Ohio; sisters-in-law Elnora (Truman) Weaver of Indiana and Arlene (Levi) Miller of New Mexico; and brother-in-law Darrel Miller.
He was preceded in death by his son, the Rev. Steven Troyer; infant daughter, Diana Sue Troyer; parents Miles and Mary Troyer; brother-in-law Fred Erb; sister and husband Dorothy and Ron Miller; sisters-in-law and husband Erma and (Paul) Hartman and Carol Miller; and in-laws Aaron and Florence Mumaw.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Troyer officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a gift in memory of Darda P. “Dar” Troyer to Gideon Bibles or Faith Baptist Church.
