GOSHEN — Mr. Carol J. “Bud” Bailey, 90, of Goshen, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare.

He was born Aug. 28, 1922, in Goshen to Glen and Sydna (Maggart) Bailey. He married Charlotte (Tope) Bailey on Oct. 16, 1942. She died Dec. 10, 1986. He married Alpha Jean (Kitchen) Bailey on Dec. 4, 1997.

Surviving is his wife, Alpha Jean of Goshen; daughter Sydney (David) Troyer of Goshen; sons Dennis (Jane) Bailey of Elkhart and Michael (Susan) Bailey of Creswell, Ore.; stepchildren George Kitchen, Mary Davis and Philip Kitchen, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Charlotte; brother Ivan Bailey; half-sister Miriam Stiver; and stepchildren Brad and Kelly Kitchen.

Carol was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and England as a tank mechanic. He was discharged in 1945.

He worked for the Goshen City Sewer Department for 34 years, starting with the city in the electrical generating department in 1954. Prior to that, he worked for the former Hudson Garage, Goshen, from 1945-1954.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where services will follow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Lenny Krebs will officiate.

Burial will be in Hess Cemetery with military services.
