GOSHEN — William S. Bontrager, 74, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2013, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born April 21, 1938, to Samuel and Fannie (Bontrager) Bontrager in Centerville, Mich. He married Wilma K. Golden on June 20, 1965, in Mexico, Mo. She died June 8, 1995.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce K. Stamper of Elkhart and Barbara Knight of Goshen; two sons, Michael W. Bontrager of Millersburg and William (Casie) Bontrager Jr. of Goshen; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna (Tobie) Yoder of Colon, Mich., and Lizzie (Albert) Hochstetler of Sturgis, Mich.; and three brothers, Henry (Dorothy) Bontrager of Wisconsin, Menno Bontrager of Burr Oak, Mich., and Amos (Lillian) Bontrager of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; six siblings, Christ, Levi and Rueben Bontrager, Anna Stauffer, Katie Hochstetler; and a half-sister, Nancy.
A four-year resident of the area and a member of New Paris Church of the Brethren, he worked in the manufactured housing industry.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, funeral will be at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Godfrey of New Paris Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
