ELKHART — Marilynn A. Rich, 96, of Elkhart, died at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Greenleaf Living Center.

Marilynn was born July 24, 1916, in Nappanee to Morrell Sr. and Jessie (Hamman) Mercer. On June 29, 1940, she married William V. Rich. He died June 19, 1996.

Marilynn was a homemaker and also worked at Miles, Smolers and Sautter’s Greenhouse.

She was a volunteer with March of Dimes and a member of the Trailriders Saddle Club for many years and the International Trotting and Pacing Association.

She raised horses and was an avid gardener.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (James) Powers of Bristol, Sara Rich of Granger and Susan Franklin of Elkhart; a stepdaughter, Linda (Devon) Kronewitter; a brother-in-law, John Pressler Sr. of Elkhart; a sister-in-law, Esther Mercer of Aztec, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilynn was preceded in death by both parents; a stepson, William E. Rich; son Thomas Alan Rich; a stepdaughter, Patricia Campanello; a brother, Morrell “Skeets” Mercer Jr.; and four sisters, Gloria Anderson, Betty Pressler, Dorothea Bowers and Gwendolyn Mercer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2012, and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, service at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.

Pastor James Fischer of Crossroads Community Church will officiate.
