ELKHART — Joann Marie Comer, 63, died at 8 a.m. at home, Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, after a long battle with lupus and cancer.

She married her best friend, Lavon Comer, in 1993.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1949, in Goshen to Wallace and Tommie (Perrin) Moist.

She is survived by a son, Scott (Lara) Payne and two daughters, Tammy (Scott) Weed and Kathy Guevara, all of Elkhart, and a stepdaughter, Michelle Borkholder. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrew (Shannon), Adam and Aaron Weed, Chris Guevara, Chi Anna Olinger and Spencer Payne, all of Elkhart; and special friends Jody and Ian Kettering, both of Elkhart. Also surviving are her sisters, Janie Tinkey and Janice (Carl) Ritter, both of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Moist, her mother, Tommie Moist, and a sister, Jean Smith.

She enjoyed baking and doing crafts. She loved to embroider and crochet.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice House.

Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

There will be a private burial at a later date.
