ELKHART -- Gerald G. Walberg, 78, of Golden Living Center, formerly of Osceola, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 27, 2008) in Golden Living Center.
He was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Monroe, Wash., to George and Sylvia (Jacobson) Walberg. On April 29, 1950, he married Beatrice Lowery in Mishawaka. She died Sept. 21, 2005.
Mr. Walberg is survived by two daughters, Ruth Kincses of Mishawaka and Barb Charlton of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ted C. Walberg of Orville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Sandy Kelly.
Mr. Walberg moved to the Mishawaka/Elkhart area in 1948. He was a graduate of Monroe, Wash., High School and a machinist at Dodge Manufacturing Co., Mishawaka. He retired from Contech, Mishawaka.
Mr. Walberg was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and the Upper Room Small Church. He enjoyed bowling and salmon fishing, was a scratch golfer and organized Dodge Manufacturing golf leagues.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel, and one hour prior to Friday's 10 a.m. funeral service at the church. Pastor Norm Reimer will officiate. Cremation will follow, with inurnment at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee, is assisting with arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the church or American Diabetes Association.
