NOTRE DAME — Weeks after Notre Dame returns one starter following an academic-related suspension, it has lost another player.
Wide receiver DaVaris Daniels will be suspended for the spring semester due to an academic issue, according to a statement Daniels made to ESPN.com.
”I understand that attending the University of Notre Dame is a privilege and with that comes a certain level of academic responsibility,” he said. “Therefore, I will not be attending Notre Dame in the spring semester but fully expect to re-enroll in the summer semester to earn my degree and continue playing football for the Irish.”
Because Daniels plans to re-enroll after the spring, he should not miss any game time. However, it is not known if Daniels will face additional team discipline when he returns in the summer.
Daniels was primed to return as Notre Dame’s top receiver in 2014, following 49 catches, 725 yards and seven touchdowns in 2013. Daniels figured to be the primary target for returning quarterback Everett Golson next season.
