Manti Te’o passed over in the first round of NFL Draft
Surprising news out of the first night of the NFL Draft, as Manti Te'o is passed in all 32 picks.
NEW YORK — The most prolific Notre Dame player in a generation was snubbed on the first night of the draft.
Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o wasn’t selected in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday, April 25. Fellow Irish grad Tyler Eifert was chosen 21st by Cincinnati.
Te’o had been projected as early as 20th (Chicago Bears) and late as 32nd (Baltimore Ravens) by most major draft analysts. Many draft experts expected Te’o to go to Minnesota, but the Vikings passed on Te’o in all three of their first round picks.
Te’o turned down invitations to attend the opening night of the NFL Draft Thursday, April 25, in New York, electing instead to watch the draft at home with his family. The draft resumes Friday.
