CINCINNATI, Ohio — Former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel will be taking snaps a few hours south east of South Bend from now on.
A month after parting ways with the Irish, the 2012 class’s highest-rated quarterback from Columbus East also visited Cincinnati, Ball State and Miami (Ohio) before picking the Bearcats on Wednesday, April 10.
Kiel made waves as a recruit when he decommitted from Indiana in favor of LSU, then left LSU for Notre Dame in an 11th-hour shift.
Kiel spent his entire freshman season on the sidelines while redshirt freshman Everett Golson led Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season and the national championship game.
According to ESPN’s Joe Schad, Cincinnati has two senior quarterbacks, Munchie Legaux and Brendon Kay. Kiel will have three years of eligibility remaining in 2014, when he hopes to compete for a starting spot.
