Hail, gusty winds possible for northern Indiana, southwest Michigan

Goshen First Friday events will continue as scheduled.

Hazardous weather could hit northern Indiana and southwest lower Michigan between Friday, Aug. 1, and Thursday, Aug. 7.

According to The National Weather Service, there’s a chance for thunderstorms during the day and into the evening Friday, but widespread severe weather is not expected. The strongest storms could result in small hail and gusty winds.

Similar weather is predicted through Thursday.

Locally affected areas include all of St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaGrange, La Porte, Kosciusko, Noble and Cass counties.

Goshen First Fridays activities will continue as scheduled. Two beach volleyball courts were built on Lincoln Avenue between Main and Third Streets for the tournament, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

 The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana issued a frost advisory for Elkhart County beginning Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop to the low- to mid- 30s tonight.
