Power restored to 97 percent of I&M customers who lost service earlier this week

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) had to replace nearly 200 poles, more than 80 transformers and 140 cross-arms in South Bend and Michigan following severe weather conditions earlier this week.

Ninety-seven percent of Indiana Michigan Power customers who lost power earlier this week due to severe weather conditions can now turn the lights on again, as reported by the electric company.

I&M added that power has been restored to 99 percent of its Indiana customers. That includes 99 percent of South Bend customers. Around 300 South Bend customers who still do not have power can expect to see it restored by 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5,, and the 2,300 customers in Benton Harbor, Mich., without power can expect to have service restored before midnight Saturday.

I&M had to replace a total of 197 poles, 81 transformers and 140 cross-arms in both South Bend and Michigan.
