Hundreds of people were without power as a storm moved through Michiana Wednesday afternoon, June 18.
The Elkhart County 911 Center received numerous calls of power lines that were down, transformers that were on fire and fallen trees throughout the county, a dispatcher said.
There were also been reports of crashes that may have been a result of the severe weather conditions, the dispatcher said.
Todd Anderson, assistant director at the county 911 Communications Center, said several fire alarms were tripped by the strong wind.
As of 6:16 p.m., 1,336 are without power in Elkhart County, according to Indiana Michigan Power. There were 1,238 without power in St. Joseph County. As of 4:18 p.m., there were 1,274 in Cass County and 213 in St. Joseph County, Mich.
As of 6:23 p.m., NIPSCO reporting the following power outages: 1 in Elkhart, 88 in Goshen, 1 in Bristol, 14 in Nappanee, 15 in New Paris and 25 in Wakarusa.
