Clear skies, warm temperatures expected in Elkhart County this weekend

Weather forecasters are warning of potential thunderstorms Sunday night, June 15, into Monday afternoon, June 16.

Although Elkhart County can expect to start off the weekend with sunny skies, weather forecasters are warning of potential heavy rain and thunderstorms Sunday night, June 15.

The National Weather Service is reporting sunny weather with higher temperatures reaching 67 degrees during the day Friday, June 13. Friday night, temperatures are expected to dip into the mid 40s. 

On Saturday, June 14, the high is expected to reach 75 degrees with sunny skies. At night, clear skies are expected, with a low around 54 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to go up Sunday, June 15, reaching the lower-to-mid 80s. The weather service reports that thunderstorms are likely Sunday night, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

Thunderstorms are expected to carry on into Monday afternoon, June 16, according to AccuWeather.com.

 The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana issued a frost advisory for Elkhart County beginning Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop to the low- to mid- 30s tonight.
