Elkhart County will likely see rain until mid-afternoon on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold front moving through the area will bring the showers throughout the day with the possibility of thunderstorms. Meteorologist John Taylor said the front has caused widespread rain and storms over the Great Plains in the last few days.
While the cold front is weakening, Elkhart County could see heavy rainfall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday. Between a quarter and half an inch is expected to fall.
"There’s a very moist air mass over us right now,“ Taylor said.
The chance of thunderstorms will be higher in the afternoon and evening Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Rain showers will continue on and off through Thursday night, with skies clearing Friday.
