It's been snowing heavily for a few hours now, causing hazardous road conditions and leading to school delays and closures. But how much have we gotten and, more importantly, when will it end?

The winter storm pummeling Michiana Wednesday has so far dropped about five inches of snow throughout Elkhart County and more is coming.

Michael Skipper, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that the snow will stop briefly in the late morning or early afternoon but it'll start back up in the afternoon and another inch will fall before the winter storm is completely over.

The storm has caused several crashes and slide offs throughout the area and thousands of people throughout Michiana are without power.

If you're hoping that this is the last snowfall of the season, Skipper said don't get your hopes up — a round of light snow is in the forecast for this weekend.
