As winter starts to end, the National Weather Service, NOAA and FEMA want to increase awareness of severe weather possible this spring and year round.

Severe Weather Preparedness Week is from March 2 to March 8. The campaign aims to teach people about severe weather risks and ensure that everyone is ready in case of a severe weather emergency such as a tornado.

All week long, the NWS will be releasing information on gauging severe weather risks, making plans for severe weather events, building a disaster emergency kit and paying attention to weather alerts.

Find out more about being ready for severe weather on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website.
