ELKHART COUNTY – Northern Indiana is expected to see bitterly cold conditions late Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday morning, Feb. 28.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory around 4 p.m. Thursday. Lake effect snow showers will dissipate as Thursday goes on and will be followed by wind chills between -10 and -20 degrees Friday morning. The advisory will be in effect from 4 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Thursday afternoon, falling and blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility, the weather service said. The winter weather advisory issued yesterday will last until 5 p.m. Thursday.

The weather service warns slick roads combined with poor visibility will create nasty conditions for drivers. Wind chills Friday morning will be low enough to cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes, the weather service said.
