Elkhart officials will start looking to ticket snow shoveling violators on Friday
After a break due to bad weather, the city of Elkhart will renew its policy.
ELKHART — The city of Elkhart will renew its sidewalk shoveling policy Friday, Jan. 31.
The policy had been set aside for more than a week because of excessive snow and extreme cold temperatures.
Building Commissioner Denny Correll said the city will once again begin reviewing sidewalks for possible violations beginning Friday.
Elkhart ordinance requires residents and business owners to keep their sidewalks clear of snow or face a possible penalty. Exceptions are made for people who are disabled and elderly.
