ELKHART — Mayor Dick Moore is applauding city workers for their efforts during the recent severe weather.

Moore sent all city employees an email thanking them for their efforts.

He said the city’s goal was to keep the city open rather than declare an emergency.

In part, he wrote, “Special kudos this week go to those who, while exposed to these extremes, kept our city in a state of preparedness and functional. While we warned the people not to go out if they didn't have to, our city was open for business.”

Moore pointed to several departments, including street, buildings and grounds, central garage, airport, cemetery and utilities, for their work.

Overall, he applauded all city workers. “It takes all of us all the time. But nobody does it better. I am pleased and proud to be your Mayor,” he wrote.
