NOTRE DAME — For the first time in six and a half months, Everett Golson is a student at Notre Dame.

“Everett Golson was readmitted this afternoon to the University of Notre Dame,” Paul Browne, Notre Dame vice president for public affairs and communications, said in a statement Friday, Dec. 13.

The Irish quarterback had been suspended since May after what he initially called “poor academic judgement.” Golson later admitted to Sports Illustrated that he had cheated on an exam.

Golson led Notre Dame to a 12-1 record and a BCS National Championship Game appearance as a redshirt freshman. Head coach Brian Kelly said Dec. 3 that Golson — if readmitted — was expected to arrive on campus Sunday, Dec. 15.

He is not expected to participate in bowl game preparation. Kelly said Golson will not be allowed to travel with the team to bowl, but that Golson might meet up with the team in New York City.

The Irish (8-4) will take on Rutgers (6-6) in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 28 at Yankee Stadium.
