Northridge High School lost to New Prairie High School in the Class 4A semistate Friday, Nov. 21. The loss followed an outstanding football season for the Raiders.

Seven area grapplers are returning state qualifiers — Elkhart Central’s Eliseo Guerra, Elkhart Memorial’s Tony Vaughn and Penn’s Chase Osborn, Drew Hildebrandt, Kobe Woods, Joey Mammolenti and Austin Slates.

Following a loss in the semistate game to New Prairie, Michael Fickert encouraged the Raiders’ underclassmen to continue working hard and top this year’s performance in 2015.

David Welker couldn’t work his way onto the field as a junior, but a change in attitude changed him into a playmaker for Northridge football.

The Northridge Raiders, who play New Prairie Friday, Nov. 21, haven’t given up a second-half point in eight consecutive high school football games.

After two workouts indoors, Northridge will head for a winter workout in preparation for Friday's 4A semistate game with New Prairie.
