GOSHEN — Goshen College is looking for an athletic director.
After six years as the AD at GC, Tim Demant announced his resignation from the position on Thursday, May 15.
Demant has accepted the AD role at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
"Tim has done a fine job in providing leadership in our athletic department," said Bill Born, GC’s vice president for student life and dean of students. "He has retained a high level of competitive expectations, while fully supporting our academic and institutional core values along with those of the NAIA.
"Tim is a true proponent of the concept of a 'student-athlete' recognizing the value of co-curricular learning within the context of faith-based liberal arts institutions. We're appreciative of his time and service these past six years."
Demant joined the Maple Leaf staff in July 2008 after a 10-year stint at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He previously coached volleyball and was an athletic assistant at his alma mater, Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C.
"While I am excited about a great opportunity at Whitworth University, it is always difficult to say good-bye to a place that has become home," Demant explained. "I will truly miss the great people of Goshen College, including a wonderful athletics staff that is committed to making a difference in the lives of student-athletes. I am confident that the Leafs are set up for great things in the future and I look forward to following them from afar."
